Satire pervades the web, seeping into mailboxes and mainstream news like a spilled cup of coffee. It stains and it won't go away.

A tidbit about a satirist you've never heard of

If you want the rundown on the state of democracy in Russia (short answer: toast), read the whole article I'm about to link. Otherwise, just focus on the current exploits of Viktor Shenderovich, who used to mock Russians in power on a TV puppet show before the station was taken over by the state-run Gazprom oil company. Viktor's running for office now, campaigning for a position equivalent to a US Congressman.

"I'm not running to get into parliament. My campaign is about trying to give people a voice, to protest how democratic reforms have been reversed since Putin came to power," Viktor says.I wonder if Al Franken will be saying the same thing next year in Minnesota.
